The goal in brief

GoalEveryone can get quality health care without going broke.

people without essential health services1
4.6 billion
facing financial hardship from health costs1
2.1 billion
health worker shortfall projected by 20303
11 million

Why it matters

About 4.6 billion people still lack access to essential health services, and 2.1 billion face financial hardship when they pay for care.1 When care is out of reach, treatable illnesses go untreated, and health costs keep 1.6 billion people in poverty or push them deeper into it.1

How we’ll know it’s done

Finish line
Universal health coverage: quality essential care, medicines and vaccines for all, with protection from financial hardship, as SDG target 3.8 calls for.2
What counts
Care people can reach and afford when they need it, not just a clinic on a map.
How it’s checked
WHO and World Bank tracking of essential service coverage and of hardship from health costs.
Our part
We’ll fund this once our vetting team vets an organization working on it.

What follows

  • More children surviving their first five years, through vaccines and skilled care at birth.H-11Reduce the child mortality rate to under 1% globally
  • Diseases caught and treated early, before they spread.H-15End disease
  • No family pushed into poverty by a medical bill.H-02End poverty

Who’s working on it

We only call a solution proven, measurable and scalable once our vetting team has vetted it. Everything else here, the team is tracking.

Not vetted5 organizationsTracked by our vetting team. Not vetted yet, so we make no claims about them.
